okay, i’ve never done a puzzle this way before. first two letters in the grid were C and Y! i scoped out the whole thing and was pretty sure about which six letters were vowels, and 8=Y looked like a standout based on frequency and end-of-wordness. so CYC____ seemed like a good fit, and then the L came next, and then since it also ended in a vowel, i got CYCLONE and pretty much sailed from there. fun one.
