Am I the only person here who does Ken Jennings’ weekly Tuesday Trivia quiz? Well, “does” is maybe the wrong word. I receive the quiz every week and I try to answer the questions, but I don’t actually submit them. Anyway … if you want, you can receive the trivia quiz in your inbox every week. Just go to this page and enter your e-mail address in the red box on the left (you may need to scroll down a bit).

If you’re new to it, the way it works is as follows: he sends seven questions each week. The first six are standard trivia questions, which makes them fairly easy to Google. To prevent cheating, the seventh question is of the “what do these have in common?” variety. Usually all seven questions are really fun, of high quality. And the questions seven are awfully hard, usually.

I bring it up this week because I love the current question seven. Here it is:
What unusual distinction is shared by all these celebrities? Desi Arnaz, Ted Kennedy, Jack Lemmon, Jerry Lewis, Walter Matthau, Al Pacino, Edward G. Robinson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Mike Tyson.
If you know my likes and dislikes, you probably have a headstart on where to look to answer this question. And if you do figure out the answer, please don’t post it in the comments or anywhere else online. Wouldn’t be fair for everyone else competing for actual prizes!

Once again I have failed to talk about today’s puzzle. Um, it’s fun? There, done and done. Enjoy, and we’ll be back on Monday.

who the hell is edward g robinson? the only edward robinson i know is edward a robinson, winner of the first pulitzer prize in poetry.

puzzle: guess some vowels E, T, TEETHE, THREE, and then nothing until i guessed TOURNIQUET. that was cool, because 16=O wasn’t on my radar screen as a possible vowel until i put it in. also, this one required some thought even at the end, to slot in the last four singletons.

Joon, really? Here’s a clip of him. I’m sure you’ve at least heard his voice.

Did not consider the last four singletons, but it does look like they are a pain to place. Looks like the solution is unique, unless BLOD is a word.

[...] I’m looking forward to what else they have in store. Oh, that reminds me, did you figure out Ken Jennings’ question seven this week? See you Thursday. November 9th, 2009 by Alex | tags: [...]
